My name is Izel (which means unique) and I am a fifteen year old Aztec. I live with my two brothers and my mother and father. My best friend's name is Meztil.
Anyways, I'm going to be writing entries about the things that happen in my life. My friend, Meztil is also going to be writing here, but I'm just making the first post.
My first entry is going to be talking about our society.
In our society, there are five social classes - the ruler and his family are at the top of the social pyramid, second are the noble class of government officials, third are commoners and citizens who were not of noble rank, fourth were peasants, and last were slaves. I am at the third rank, so I'm in the middle.
Life was ruled by fate, from beginning to end. Society was dominated by men, ruled by religion, tradition, and structure.
Here's a fun fact about our society: men were allowed to have more than one wife, but his primary wife would be the one to go through all the ceremony. The man may have many secondary wives, but they would also be officially recognized. The man had to treat all of his wives equally.
I think that's all I can say about our society - that pretty much wraps up everything.
